Tharu Tribal Products

They are a tribe that follow shift cultivation, are into hunting small animals and go fishing in rivers. But these basic means of survival have not hindered their eye for beauty; rather the proximity to nature has enhanced their sense of expression which they display while decorating their simple huts, while painting their daily utensils and while beautifying their normal lives with clay, mud, dung and grass. Much of the rich design is rooted in devotional activities and passed on from one generation to the next. Their colorful shells, feather decorated basketry, including ram topne water jug covers are mesmerizing to watch.
